B.A., Interdisciplinary Studies in Elementary Education, University of Texas at El Paso (2010)

Jessica received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Elementary Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and began her teaching career in August 2011. Jessica taught first grade with the Ysleta Independent School District and was an active member of the Ysleta Teachers Association. In 2016, Jessica decided to return to school full-time to pursue a master’s degree. During her time as a graduate student at New Mexico State University, she became an active member and officer for the Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and a student representative for the New Mexico Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. In summer 2018, Jessica completed an internship with Cooperative Extension Services and had the opportunity to teach classes for the On the Road to Living Well with Diabetes Program. As a graduate assistant, Jessica worked with students in the department and taught courses as needed. She also gained experience teaching Child Development and Lifetime Nutrition while completing an internship at Jefferson High School in El Paso, TX. Jessica received a M.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from New Mexico State University in May 2020. Upon graduating, she received the Dean's Award of Leadership Excellence for Graduates. Jessica joined the NMSU faculty as instructor of Family and Consumer Sciences Education in August 2020.
