Shadai Martin is a Registered Dietitian and received her Ph.D. in Nutrition and Exercise Science from South Dakota State University. Her research interests include rural childhood obesity and the school nutrition environment, both in rural communities and the college/universities setting. Shadai believes her role as an educator is to assist students with understanding emotionally and intellectually the relationship between diet, health, and disease and also to build students’ self-efficacy through a supportive learning environment.
